A Note from the Editor ~ ha!

I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to contribute to the cookbook. I keep hearing that I'm nuts for undertaking the project of putting it together, but I have to say that it's been a fantastic experience! Reading through the recipes and comments and remembering times of enjoying the different foods at family functions has brought giggles & tears and a renewed appreciation of being part of such a fantastic family circle, which is taken for granted a lot of the time.

There are some fabulous recipes in the pages that follow ~ as if any of us doubted that! About 1/2 of the 60 submitted are desserts... surprise, surprise! But I think there's something for everyone... even the hunters, Pheasant Stew & Venison Stroganoff.

I also had the privilege to read all the notes from everyone who sent their best wishes, but couldn't join us for the GUARISCO PICNIC 2000. Finally, I had the experience of spending a night with my wonderfully witty 86 year old grandma, hearing tales of her life, which I knew after 10 minutes of conversation would be an experience that I will cherish for a very long time. I feverishly took notes while she spoke and have compiled them to share with all of you. I STRONGLY encourage everyone to spend time talking with our elderly relatives, grandparents, aunts & uncles and hearing the tales of their history!

Although it's only our second, I hope that the tradition of having the Family Picnic will continue to grow and everyone will look forward to coming together for that day every year.

Hope you enjoy the book & the Picnic!!!
Love,
Jacquie
